I've been designing a bed loft with quite a few unique features. First I want to show you the fold out shelf. There are three stages, each is shown from the front with a back view below it. Stage one (left) is folded flat against the wall. It comes out 4 inches from the wall, and is 31 inches tall by 36 inches long. Stage two (middle) is a low incline surface like a drafting table which would allow a person to eat from, write/draw or set a laptop on. The table surface is 19 inches by 24 inches wide. In stage two and three it comes out 36 inches from the wall. The third stage (left) is a steeper incline like an easel and could be used as an easel or simply to hold a book while you read. The shelf is mounted at the left of my bed so that when it is folded out I can sit with it over my lap. Hopefully this isn't too complicated to understand, but I'll take some pictures of it when it's finished too just in case.
